Part 2 - Happiness
Summary of the Approaches to Happiness
In this Part 2, I have outlined a number of approaches
to happiness. These are summarised in Table 1, The
Happiness Grid. The grid also lists the potential
limitations of the different approaches: duration,
availability and dependency. (Click on the image for a

Table 1 - The Happiness Grid
Often activities undertaken may involve a couple of
approaches to happiness referred to in the Happiness Grid.
For example: you pursue a values based goal this also
requires the use of Intellect skills set to achieve the
goal and in so doing getting the satisfaction of having
purpose, competence and achievement. You may also use
Creative Imagination in the service of the values based
goal, again getting the sense of satisfaction.
As discussed there is a smorgasbord of potential
approaches to happiness. The question is how to choose an
approach or approaches that are best for you, which will
have the best possibility of providing long term
happiness. This will be looked at in Part 3 - The
Happiness Strategy.
